More about Stargate Observatory

Stargate features a 12.5-inch f/17 club-built Cassegrain telescope under a steel dome. The club also owns a monster 22" Dobsonian reflector. During Open Houses, several members bring their 'scopes and set them up - we highly suggest prospective telescope buyers come and try-before-you-buy.

Located at Wolcott Mill Metropark.
NOTE: Enter at Camp Rotary entrance on 29 mile road (between North Ave. and Romeo Plank Rd.) - NOT the main Wolcott Mill Metropark entrance on Wolcott Rd.

NOTE! Dress for cold. Dress in layers, bring more layers than you think you need. Bring blankets - you can use them, or give them to others who did NOT dress warmly. And a hat. Maybe a thermos of coffee or hot chocolate. Did we mention: Dress for cold? Nothing ruins a good night of observing more then being miserable because you're cold.

Note: a few yards into the entrance, please kill your lights, give your eyes a few moments to adjust, and drive with parking lights to the parking spots a few more yards in. The observers will all be immediately to your right, and car lights kill night-vision, and often evokes howls of agony from dark-acclimated astronomers.
