More about Stef's Therapeutic Bodywork, LLC

WHO I AM
I was born and raised in Italy, my name is Stefania and I moved to the USA in 2008. I am licensed in the State of Texas as well as Nationally Certified. I came to the massage world years ago thanks to an injury and through horses, studying their anatomy and bio-mechanics, in order to help them perform at their best. Performance horses are athletes, and as such they benefits from regular bodywork as much as human beings. They are no different than us. Even the muscles and bones carry the same Latin names.

Most of the time, in order to be able to really help a horse, I had to look at the rider too… any muscle unbalance in the rider directly reflects in the horse performance!

My approach comes from the view of the body as a whole. I make a silent commitment to every client to look for the less invasive and most efficient technique in order to help as quickly as possible. Every person is unique, in his/her anatomy, stress patterns and pain level. I treasures the challenge of every single case as a motivation to constantly improve and study. Massage and helping people is a passion for me. Knowledge and empathy, patience and determination are my strongest points.

“I feel free to say that for me massage is a passion, a constant quest to improve for every single person, in order to offer the quickest possible relief from pain and discomfort. That’s my most sincere and heartfelt commitment to all my clients, weather they are professional athletes or not.

VISION AND MISSION

Unfortunately the therapeutic value of massage/bodywork is not yet totally understood, explored and accepted by the medical world. I strive to accomplish a factual co-operation between, surgeons, chiropractor, therapeutic massage operators, all together sharing just one goal: achieve health and fullness of life for everybody.

My mission is to offer a high-quality bodywork, tailored on the client’s needs of that moment and extremely respectful of that person pain tolerance level and general openness in that moment of his/her life. Every session is formulated as a friendly and loving guidance for that body to restore its natural range of motion, pain free movement capabilities, and a free flowing energy throughout the body.

Ancient Latins had a saying: Mens sana in corpore sano – i.e. a healthy mind in a healthy body. The knowledge that body and mind are so intimately intermingled is thousands of years old…..

WHAT I DO

My sessions are all different. Since every person is different, and the same person can be different from session to session, it is impossible and counterproductive to standardize a procedure. My work “by feel”.

A visual assessment at the beginning of the session is normal, which means a quick analysis of the symmetry of the body in gravity and out of gravity (in English, person standing, walking and laying on the table). Range of Motion is always thoroughly considered too.

I might use just one technique or several in order to accomplish her goal, which is to offer as much relief from pain as possible as well as a sense of overall well-being and an increased self-awareness that will help the person to maintain what the massage has accomplished.

I might pick form Myofascia Release Techniques, Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Propioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation, Myoskeletal Realignment Techniques, Orthopedic Massage Techniques, classic Swedish massage strokes, Active and Passive Stretching, ecc.

“I start considering the body as a tensile structure, just like the Golden Gate Bridge, where muscles allow bones to be the scaffolding of our bodies (without muscles all our bones would be an insignificant heap on the floor in a bag of skin…). As a natural consequence, my focus is to loosen up muscles so that bones and joints can work correctly, sliding on each other the way God meant them to perform. When muscle tightness gets in the way, our joints move out of their natural alignment, literally eating away cartilage and opening up the way to all kind of inflammatory and/or degenerative processes commonly afflicting the joints.…. “
