More about Stingray Swim School

Swim Lesson Info

Each swim session is 2 weeks long, and will be Monday through Thursday each week If a class is cancelled due to weather, we will make up that class on Friday of that week. Each class is 40 minutes long. We typically have 30 minutes of instruction followed by 10 minutes of "play" time. Sometimes, swimmers progress the most during these "play" times!

Session 1 Lessons:

We will be having a session that begins early this year, and will have classes at the following times: 2 pm, 2:45 pm, and 3:30 pm

Sessions 2-5 Lessons:

For all of these sessions, we will have the following schedule:

10 am, 10:45 am, 11:30 am

3 pm, 3:45 pm, 4:30 pm, 5:15 pm, and 6:00 pm

Session dates:

Session 1: May 20-30

Session 2: June 3-13

Session 3: June 17-27

Session 4: July 1-11

Session 5: July 15-25

Cost:
$95/session

For all Level 1 Swimmers: We do not recommend Session 1 due to the lower air temperatures that may be uncomfortable for very young swimmers. (Please use your own judgment)

During sessions 2-5, we ask that level 1 swimmers sign up for the 10:45am, 4:30pm, and 6:00pm classes only

What is a Level 1 Swimmer?

When a swimmer completes level 1, they will be able to float on their stomach and their back, fully submerge their face, and blow bubbles underwater. They may or may not be afraid of the water. Any swimmer at this level or lower is considered level 1.

Swim Team Info

Swim Team Levels:

Level IA: Can swim or kick 25 yards and can float on their back; most 5 & 6 yr olds will be in this level;

Level IB: Level IA skills PLUS can demonstrate 25 yard backstroke

Level IC: Level IIA skills PLUS can demonstrate some rotary breathing; has started learning breast stroke kick

Level IIA: All 8 & under swimmers who have mastered rotary breathing and can swim 50 yard freestyle
with a flip turn.

Level IIB: Same skills as IIA, but age 9-10

Level IIC: Same skills as IIA, but age 11 & over

Level III: All high school swimmers are level III; any swimmer, younger than high school, who is proficient in all 4 strokes, flip turns, and dive starts (proficient does not imply perfect!)

These levels are meant as guidelines, and some flexibility will be needed when placing swimmers

What is TAAF and how will it change our summer swim program?
TAAF is Texas Amateur Athletic Federation. It is a statewide organization that includes multiple sports. In swimming, it is geared towards swimmers who swim during the summer only and not year around. It is a good opportunity to compete against other swimmers who have similar training to you.

We will continue practicing the same way we always have. Swimmers are encouraged to attend the meets, but are not required to. We will go to some local meets (DFW Metroplex) during the summer. Our regional meet will be on July 13th in Frisco. For the swimmers who qualify, they will be able to travel to Corpus Christi July 25-28 for the state competition.

They do not have the schedule of the local meets yet, but they will be on Saturday, and last approximately 4 hours. There is no cost involved with the circuit meet, but there will be fees charged for the Regional and State Meet. As soon as I have the meet schedule, I will let you know. Depending on the schedule, we will try to schedule some other fun activities at our pool also.

We will chose team suits and swim caps, but these will not be required even for those who compete at the meets.
