A ten acre property in St. Charles. Construction of the beautiful stone house was completed in 1824. Rich in history, with a fireplace mantle carved by Daniel Boone and some of the oldest sycamore trees in the state of Missouri.
The property has been neglected for many years. Renovations of the stone house and the grounds have begun. McClay Mansion will be restored to its former glory.
"The McClay house is known as one of the finest in St. Charles County, with its architectural charm of the last century. We visited and photographed the house and did, indeed, find it charming. It has a basement and three stories. The rock walls are two feet thick, such that rocking chairs could be used on the window sills."
