More about Strand Gallery

Strand Gallery provides a sleek backdrop to house the works of Joey Quiroga.

Quiroga is far more than just another guy armed with a camera. He enjoys adapting and creating innovative new finished art from the volumes of photos he has taken and is still taking. One thing that makes his work so distinct and cutting edge is that he is an informed artist, having toured both North and South America and Europe.

His in-depth knowledge of Art, Artists, and Art History, give him a diverse, comprehensive palette from which to reference and work. Knowing the work of the great masters, their techniques and end results is a definite advantage Quiroga has in making artistic judgments as he creates his canvas.
He painstakingly works to capture the essential component of each image as he combines and applies his working knowledge to each of his art pieces utilizing different mediums. The result is a magical amalgam of color, substance, and texture which was not even possible in many instances prior to the digital age.

His Tremont Gallery Galveston.com features work from over thirty-six different artists and students throughout the area and in a variety of mediums.

He also has created a special ongoing collection of Galveston’s Alley Cats, which is a show in itself.
The 21 year plus veteran Galveston Police Officer is a proud father of two boys and is a busy guy indeed…more like a force of nature. He devotes his free time to charitable organizations and programs benefitting needy kids, Veterans, homeless, and people in need, via the “Lighthouse Charity Team,” founded by Dick Daugird. This past year, along with help of Lighthouse and from over 300 plus volunteers, police and sheriff’s deputies, Quiroga helped to distribute over 20,000 toys, and 400 plus bicycles to area kids via “The Blue Santa Program.”

Joey Quiroga in part credits his Uncle George, a Vietnam veteran, for the gift of photography – having grown up watching the old methods of manual cameras, film and darkroom – giving him a solid grasp of the art of photography. He is also a master of digital painting using a precision stylus, and it really, really shows!
