Join us at Eureka College for a stimulating artistic environment to foster your artistic development, collaborate & network with colleagues and faculty, and enjoy fun and fantastic camaraderie, chamber music & string orchestra repertoire, technique tips, group and individual coachings.

Maestro David Commanday, Artist in Residence at Eureka College, directs the Summer program and orchestra, joined by a faculty of Heartland Festival Orchestra’s principals, who will coach and play side-by-side in the orchestra for the final performance. Daily schedules includes orchestra & small group rehearsals, performance and theory classes, and free social time. Registrants stay in the new, state-of-the-art Ivy Residence Hall on the Eureka campus.
Faculty: David Commanday, Director-Conductor — Artist in Residence of Eureka College and Artistic Director of the Heartland Festival Orchestra. Named Illinois Professional Conductor of the Year 2011, he is also Conductor of the Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra of Webster University’s Community Music School in St. Louis & Central Illinois Youth Symphony.

Sarah Gentry, Violin —Professor of Violin at Illinois State University and Concertmaster of the Heartland Festival Orchestra.

José Valencia, Violin — Principal 2nd Violin of the Heartland Festival Orchestra and Founding Music Director of the cutting-edge Indianapolis Orkestra Projekt.

Diane Wuthrich, Viola — Principal Viola of the HFO, She is an active teacher, orchestral player and chamber musician in Central Illinois.

Barbara Hedlund, Cello — Principal Cello of the HFO, Champaign-Urbana Symphony, Danville Symphony, and Sugar Creek Symphony & Song Festival.
