Official Page of the Bands of Summit Academy and the H. E. Hendrix Concert Band.

Summit Academy’s H. E. Hendrix Music Program offers Music K-8 grade. All Elementary students participate in music through 6th grade, and then must take a form of Art as part of their seven period day. Band then satisfies that requirement, of our 7-8 grade students, and is taken for a full year (two semesters). Students in 4th-5th grade all participate in either band or orchestra. In 6th grade the option expands to include a music exploratory option. Summit Academy's Jazz Workshop II meets after school twice a week for our elementary students and is available for advanced 4th-6th grade students that are up for a challenge.

In Junior High (7-8) 3 levels of band, 1 level of chorus, 2 piano classes, and three levels of orchestra round out the choices that students may take during school.
In addition to these performing art courses, there are several extracurricular groups and activities, including a Jazz Workshop, Fiddling Club, and a Drama
Club.

Placements into performing junior high performing groups at Summit Academy are based solely on demonstrated performance skills and rehearsal behaviors. Students are placed into a group that will provide both opportunities for
success and the challenges necessary to encourage them to fully
realize their artistic potential. Heightened aesthetic sensitivity is
the primary goal for all students in the H. E. Hendrix Music Program.
Improved self-discipline and increased self-motivation are two other
areas of emphasis that are stressed throughout the program.
