Suncoast was named the #9 High School in the country for 2011. SHS has been one of the top 10 schools in the past 5 years thanks to the hard work of faculty, staff, parents, and students.
Suncoast Community High School opened in 1989 as a magnet school in the Palm Beach County School District . Located in a residential area of Riviera Beach, Florida in a county which spans 2,578 square miles, it receives students from thirteen public middle schools, eight public high schools, and twenty-three private schools.
Suncoast is one of twenty-two public high schools in Palm Beach County. It is an academic college preparatory four-year high school which is a total school of choice. It offers a full range of extra-curricular sports, clubs, and activities. The school hosts four magnet programs (Computer Science (CS), Interdisciplinary (IDP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and Math, Science and Engineering (MSE).
There are around 1300 students currently attending Suncoast from diverse racial, ethnic, social, and economic backgrounds and many cross over in the curriculum among the four programs. The school population is currently composed of 48% White, 35% Black, 6% Hispanic, 8% Asian students, and 3% multi-racial students.
