More about Sunflower Pottery

Bob Andersen, BFA University of Northern Iowa and Connie Andersen have been creating unique handmade functional ceramic pottery for over four decades. The creative energy is nonstop in that they are always looking for ways to incorporate new trends and nature into their pieces. Bob is the maker of the pottery and Connie is the co-designer and takes care of the business end of the company. Bob and Connie appreciate well made crafts and it shows in their Organic, Regional, Terra Cotta, Pinecone, Garden and Arts & Crafts collections. Sunflower Pottery has gained prestigious recognition and clients since their beginnings in the mid seventies and they continue to be professional craftsmen and artisans who attend every show with a professional attitude.

Sunflower Pottery’s collections embody a wide assortment of highly collectible pieces including cups and bowls, plates and platters, vases and wine chillers, goblets, birdhouses and custom items in rich jewel-tone hues of blues, greens, oranges and browns. The longest running collection is the Regional collection which includes farm animals, woodland animals among scenic farmland backgrounds to enhance the functional pottery pieces. The Terra Cotta collection is the traditional planter used by serious gardeners for outdoor or indoor use and includes vessels of various designs and sizes, garden row markers, and other accoutrements. The Organic collection contains earth tone glazes over evocative images drawn from nature with a black, glass-like interior and sensuous exterior. The Arts and Crafts collection shows intricate patterns influenced by architect Frank Lloyd Wright, Native American symbols and mission furniture. All are handmade and dishwasher and microwave safe.
