More about Sunny View Pediatrics

Well-Child Visits:

We believe in preventive health care through routine well-child visits. We also strongly believe in the safety and effectiveness of childhood immunizations and believe it is one of the most important things you can do to protect your child’s health (please refer to our Vaccine Policy Statement).

These appointments are regularly scheduled according to the American Academy of Pediatrics’ recommendations. They begin at age 2 weeks and continue at 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months and yearly starting at age 2.
These important visits provide an opportunity for you to discuss your child’s growth and development. You will also be given appropriate information pertaining to developmental milestones, safety, nutrition and immunizations. A complete physical examination will be included.

Well visits are more involved than sick visits and should be scheduled in advance. Since these appointments require parents to fill out screening questionnaires and include immunizations, we prefer that only parents bring the child for these appointments unless prior arrangements are made.

Sick Child Visits:

Having a sick child can be very frightening for parents. If you feel your child needs to be seen please call early in the day, if possible, so your child has an opportunity to be seen here instead of in urgent care or the emergency room.
If you feel the problem is urgent, please let the front office staff know of your concerns.

Phone Visits:

If you are unsure whether your child needs to be seen, we can advise you with home care or schedule an appointment. We make every effort to return morning phone calls by noon, and afternoon calls by 5:00 p.m. If you have not heard back from us and have a growing concern about your child, please call again.

After-Hours Emergencies:

If your child is having a life-threatening emergency, please call 911. For all other after-hours emergencies or problems, we offer 24-hour coverage through our answering service, which can be contacted by dialing our office number. There is always a pediatrician on call who will be contacted. If you do not hear from the pediatrician in a timely manner and you are concerned, contact the answering service again and let them know.

Please have available any important information concerning your child such as chronic medical conditions, medications taken, allergies and current temperature. If you have a question of a routine nature or need a refill on medication, please call during regular business hours.
