Sunset Memorial Park, located east of Cumberland, Md. on North 220, opened in 1956 with a few gardens. Today, the park contains 13 gardens, including a garden mausoleum and a chapel mausoleum spread out over approximately 65 acres of rolling terrain.
Burial estates at Sunset are surrounded by biblical gardens, located near great works of religious art. In the Garden of the Wall of Samaria, there is a rare Rosato marble well curb sculptured in Italy that was once part of the Satterthwaite Estate in Long Island, N.Y. A companion piece to this 500-year-old treasure is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
