More about Sutton County Game Dinner Association

Since 1966, the Sutton County Game Dinner Association has been a vital part of our rural community. This charitable support is made possible through the funds raised at our annual game dinner hosted at the Sutton County Civic Center the second weekend of November. This year marks the 50th year of the game dinner in Sonora and we are hoping to make this year better than ever.

Sutton County Game Dinner Association is a non-profit organization who sometimes gets lost in the shadows, but is a fundamental part of our community. It is important for future and current supporters to be aware of the impact this organization has had on the community. Over the last few years, they were involved with many projects that greatly benefited our town. We wanted to let supporters know a few of the projects they were apart of over the last few years. They were responsible for building the restrooms, kitchen, and donated over $120, 000 to help cover and enlarge the slab at the county park. The organization has also given money and volunteered their time to the 4-H shooting sports and livestock show, the Relay for Life Survivor’s Dinner, the Downtown Lion’s Club, the Combat Marine Outdoors Devil’s River Weekend, and the Boy Scouts. In addition to this, they helped the middle school students with their trip to Washington DC, and donated a freezer and commercial refrigerator to the local food pantry… just to name a few!

Not only does the association give numerous monetary donations to the community, but it also promotes many local businesses and provides outstanding advertising for many hunting outfits and land owners in, and around, the Sonora area. Because hunting is such a vital part of our economy in Sutton County, it is essential that we show our appreciation to those that support us.

Game Dinner
The actual game dinner is a fun night to be had by all ages. The meal will excite the appetite of any person! The menu this year includes venison, brisket, fried turkey breast, sausage, goat, camp bread, chili, and beans. Most of the meal is will be donated by area ranchers and business owners then cooked to perfection by local chefs. After the meal, the raffle begins where an estimated $50,000 plus is given away in rifles, shotguns, quality door prizes, and the grand prize of 2016 Polaris Ranger.
We are hoping to add a few weekend or day hunts around the great state of Texas to the raffle.
