We are as local as you can get! Located less than 7 miles from Abingdon you will find Sweet Grass Farms a family-owned fifth generation farm that has been in the Berry family since 1891. Comprised of more than 1000 acres of rolling hills in Washington County, Sweet Grass Farms is home to a healthy herd of cattle that graze on abundant mountaintop grasses in Southwest Virginia.
All of our Sweet Grass Farms beef is grass finished beef, raised from birth to processing right here on our farm. Unlike traditionally raised cattle, we do not use growth hormones or antibiotics.
Now and for the future:
We are also very proud that we have adopted low impact; sustainable farming practices—like a soil conservation plan that includes stream-side and pond fencing with rotational grazing.
At Sweet Grass Farms we’re not only raising top quality beef, we are also raising a more positive outlook for our farm family who wants to maintain a rural life style, economic viability and pass down this family tradition of farming for all generations to come. It’s a win-win situation for both you and the farmer!
