The Szechuan style of cooking that has existed for hundreds of years originated in the Szechuan province of China. Though the culinary style was Chinese in origin, the many ingredients used were decidedly worldly and from the New World. Combined with the old world Szechuan style, these New World ingredients shaped one of the first international cosmopolitan cuisines.
