More about TAP Computer Training Center

Our Organization was founded in 2002 and became a reality on October 8, 2007. We provide computer training services to low-income individuals and others in a community in which there is no library available. The overall purpose is to provide a higher-class computer education in a small community. Our Organization is designed to provide internet services to low-income individuals in a community in which there is no library available for students to do homework, projects, reports and research. In addition, we provide computer educational services to individuals who need the training for continued employment; and we offer computer training services to senior citizens who are interested in basic computer literacy.
Our goal is to continue to provide computer training to the community so that the individuals will be on a broader scale.
It is our policy to offer services to help people/parents in our community so they can help their families in all areas needed in their home when trying to better educate their children.
Our students range from 6 to 83 years of age. We have preschool students and even 3 year olds to come to TAP training school. Because we are a predominately Black county most of our students are Black; however, four (4) White students from Eufaula, Alabama attended in 2011 and we presently have three (3) White students enrolled. Due to recent community interest we anticipate an increase in White student enrollment as well as at least one (1) Philippine within the next few months.
TAP’s student body consists of twenty (25) adult students at this time (attendance fluctuates due to work schedules of seasonal and factory employees). During our sessions, we sometimes have as many as 25 children and other visiting adults present to use the internet services. We anticipate an increase in the overall number of participants which includes residents of the community. The building is situated in the housing project in the Town of Midway with a small population of 499. Our school services are critically needed because of a lack of a library and/or training facility of this sort in the area.
