Tapestry Dental was created to address a critical gap in access to care for children and special needs patients who are unable to be treated in a regular clinic. Generally, when in-office treatment fails, in either a general dentist’s or a pediatric dentist’s office, the next step is referral to a facility that performs general anesthesia for completion of care. One problem with the existing model is that there are too few facilities and providers for this type of work, and thus it is not unusual for wait times to extend beyond a year. Being a dedicated general anesthesia dental facility, Tapestry Dental aims to increase availability of these needed services and thus greatly decrease treatment delays. A reduced wait time also serves to mitigate the risk of serious complications arising while patients wait to undergo needed dental treatment.
General anesthesia is performed by a physician anesthesiologist. This allows the dentist to focus on the dental procedures and the anesthesia team to focus on the general anesthesia, providing a safe and effective environment for completion of dental care.
