TAUNY showcases the folk culture and rural heritage of New York’s North Country, providing opportunities to experience, reflect on, and learn about issues related to life in our rural region. TAUNY staff conducts research on local culture and presents it to the public in a variety of formats. The organization provides a welcoming environment where staff and others can bring people together around issues of interest to people living in and visiting the North Country. Capitalizing on our location in the North Country, an internationally recognized region that includes the Adirondack Mountains and St. Lawrence River Valley, The TAUNY Center is a destination for scholars and students of all ages interested in rural heritage topics. The Folkstore carries traditional art forms and those inspired by or reflecting on life here.
