More about Texas Black Sports Hall of Fame

Texas Black Sports Hall Of Fame History

The African American Museum is located at 3536 Grand Avenue, on the historical Texas State Fair grounds, in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Harry Robinson, Jr. serves as President and CEO of the museum. Dr. Robinson is the founder of the African American Museum and an HBCU graduate. He has worked at several black colleges and universities.
In 1996, Dr. Robinson gave vision and leadership to the establishment of the Texas Black Sports Hall of Fame. Thus, the question of why a Black Sports Hall of Fame? The Texas Black Sports Hall of Fame was established to honor outstanding black athletes, and coaches from Texas who would not or were not recognized. Many contributions by black athletes and coaches went un-noticed prior to 1996. However, there have been outstanding contributions to the black community by individuals of other races. We make every effort to keep that in mind as we make annual nominations.
