At the 2014 Texas Heat XC Camp, Jr. High and High School Athletes will enjoy five days of intense cross country training at the beautiful Collin County Adventure Camp. Set in the unique environment of the Blackland Prairie, this 427 acre camp offers miles & miles of shaded running trails, experienced coaches and college mentors, notable guest speakers, classroom training sessions, superb meals, air-conditioned cabins, camp fires, a rock climbing wall, a dance, night swimming, canoes, flashlight relays, fishing lakes, a Family 5k, etc, etc.
CAMP GOALS
Runners will learn how to train effectively and safely in the TEXAS HEAT.
Runners should expect to run between 5-10 miles per day!
Runners will learn how to monitor their nutrition and hydration.
Runners will learn drills that are distance specific.
Runners will learn about prevention of running injuries and how to identify overtraining.
Runners will be inspired to reach their potential.
Runners will be given information on the correct choice of equipment and shoes.
Runners will learn about team running and the team aspects of cross country.
Runners will be given information on goal setting and mental preparation for distance running.
