Welcome all women who want to learn more about birth doulas and what we do. My name is Jenni Gall and I have been a doula for over 10 years. In 2002, I took the doula training through DONA International, but never re-certified these last few years because it limits what I can and cannot do. I began in northeastern Nebraska as one of the first doulas in the area. I have attended about 3-4 births a year since then. My husband and I have 4 children of our own ages 18, 15, 12 and 6. We home school our children, so I have not made being a doula a top priority until I am done raising my children. When I take on a new client, I provide pregnancy education with 3 home visits. We talk about where she wants to birth, her choices she has, how to care for herself and making a birth plan. When labor begins, I am with mom and dad the whole time. I come to their house, if time allows, and support mom throughout labor. After baby is born, I help mom and baby with that wonderful first latch for breast feeding. To me, that is my favorite moment. That first connection of pure love, knowing the family is complete.
