More about The 1836 Club

The 1836 Club is an exclusive club for business professionals to enjoy good company, dinner, drinks, cigars and food in an environment designed to foster new contacts and opportunities.

The 1836 Club is named such because Arkansas became the 25th state of the Union in 1836. Located in the historic “Packet House”, The 1836 Club embraces the rich history of the home and the state of Arkansas. The Packet House is one of the oldest remaining homes in Arkansas. It was built in 1869 by United States Senator Alexander McDonald. Senator McDonald had a successful business career and was Arkansas’ first Republican United States Senator.

As you walk through the twelve thousand (12,000) square foot home, you will be amazed by the beautiful architecture, well preserved features of the home and the modern amenities that have been provided exclusively for our members.

The 1836 Club boasts of the finest kitchen in Little Rock, a beautiful and relaxing bar area, private dining rooms for Members business dinners / social occasions. The two private dining rooms are called the “Governor’s Room” with portraits of Arkansas’ first Governor, Governor Conway, and a portrait of Arkansas’ current Governor, Governor Asa Hutchinson. The other private dining room is named the “Caucus Room” with a portrait of the first president of the home, Sen. Alexander McDonald.

As you take the beautiful staircase to the second floor (or ride the elevator), you will encounter the Havannah Room, Little Rock’s finest cigar room. The Havannah Room is beautifully decorated with leather furniture and an old leather desk that could have been the desk where Sen. McDonald worked. There is a perfectly monitored humidor room and a wide selection of fine cigars. It’s a wonderful place to unwind after a hard days work and enjoy your favorite cigar and scotch.

Also, on the second floor, you will find the “Pilot’s Lounge.” The Pilot’s lounge is decorated using the history of the aeronautical industry – Arkansas’ largest export. In the Pilot’s lounge you will encounter an even more relaxed environment, where you can watch the game on one of our six flat screen TV’s, enjoy a friendly game of pool or shuffle board and challenge your friends in an even friendlier game of poker.

The third floor is reserved for members beautifully crafted wooden lockers. Each locker will be ordained with their name engraved in a brass name plate. Each member’s locker is used to store their favorite scotch, cigar or bottle of wine.

We encourage you to apply for membership and make the 1836 Club your home away from home. We look forward to serving you and treating you like only a member of The 1836 Club can be treated.
