The 40th Street Theatre origianlly opened as The Hamilton Street Theater in 1916, later changed to The Winn Theater in 1930 and finally The 40th Street Theater in 1946.Vaudeville and silent films were featured until films with sound were introduced. It is our hope to restore the theatre to its former glory. Taking on a project of this magnitude takes an abundance of resources, many of which we do not have. We will not be having benefits to ask for monies. We will, however, ask you to donate your time and/ or materials. Our intention is for this theater to be the hub of the artisan community and available for all forms of artisan expression. It is in this spirit that we invite everyone who has a part or wants to be a part of creating something for everyone to enjoy. We believe great things can be accomplished when people come together to work towards a common goal.
