The Athens County Dog Shelter

Here you can find the dogs currently at The Athens County Dog Shelter. These include stray dogs and unwanted/owner surrendered dogs.Dogs listed on this page are up for adoption through The Shelter. Some of these dogs are on stray hold, meaning they will be held for a total of 3 days to give the owner an opportunity to claim their dog. After this three day hold the dog will go up for adoption. The adoption price is $125.00 unless otherwise noted. If you are missing your dog, please contact us! Our goal is to reunite dogs with their owners or find loving, forever homes for these wonderful dogs.

Every dog in Athens County MUST have an Athens County Dog License per the Ohio Revised Code Chapter 955. If your dog is found without a license a penalty or citation may be given. You can purchase licenses at The Athens County Dog Shelter or The Athens County Auditor's Office.
