Our History
Almost three decades ago, the Bridge was birthed through God's leading of 11 individuals who were instrumental in opening a Southern Baptist church in Berks County. Today, there are approx. 200 people who consider the Bridge their place of worship.
Through divine appointments, our church met as one body for the first time on May 4, 1971 as a home fellowship. Pastor Pat Brock led this new group of seven adults and 4 children. By September Berkshire Baptist Church (its original name) grew to about 30 people and began sharing a church building with another congregation.
In January 1976 our church permanently settled on this site, the former Yocum Elementary School, and again the congregation grew. A new sanctuary with additional classroom space and kitchen was added in 1994, and it comprises our current campus.
It's almost 4 years since our church's name was changed from Berkshire Baptist Church to the Bridge Fellowship to attract and unify the diversity of people seeking to make Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior.
We pray you will be blessed & trained in the truthful Word of God as you attend the Bridge to go and make disciples in your home, neighborhood, workplace and beyond.
What We Believe
In essential beliefs--we have unity.
``There is one Body and one Spirit . . . there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of us all . . .'' Eph. 4:4-6 ·
In non-essential beliefs--we have liberty.
``Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters . . . Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls . . . So then each of us will give an account of himself to God . . . So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.'' Romans 14:1,4,12,22
In all our beliefs--we show charity.
''. . .If I hold in my mind not only all human knowledge but also the very secrets of God, and if I have the faith that can move mountains--but have no love, I amount to nothing at all.'' 1 Cor. 13:2 (Ph)
