The Byers Group

Michael G. Byers, Esq. is the founder, principal, and owner of The Byers Group. The Byers Group provides risk management, strategic solutions, and general counsel services to a wide range of clients in a variety of professional disciplines with an emphasis in the maritime industry.

Mr. Byers previously served as Vice President-Administration and General Counsel of Crounse Corporation and Assistant General Counsel at Ingram Barge Company. Previously Mr. Byers was Counsel with the law firm of Bass, Berry & Sims in Nashville, TN. He worked his way through college and law school as a manager/owner of his family’s manufacturing and retail businesses in western Kentucky. He received his BS in Finance and earned an MBA from Murray State University. He also received a juris doctorate from the Cecil C. Humprheys School of Law at the University of Memphis. He is licensed to practice law in both Tennessee and Kentucky.

Mr. Byers has served on various committees of the American Waterways Operators and has served in a number of civic and professional leadership capacities both regionally and nationally. He is a participant of GNOBFA and was a co-founder and presenter at the 2014 Marine Management & Legal Conference in Paducah, KY.
