The Caduceus Theater Arts Company

Our vision is to get back to the ancient roots of theater, a space accessible to all where expert craftsmen took theater goer’s through an experience of learning, thinking, healing and growing. Where plays were presented to touch mind and soul, all underpinned by this philanthropic exchange between the audience and the stage of giving and receiving. We accomplish this experience and exchange through three primary programs:

1. Theatrical Productions: Building the community’s relationship with the theatre starts with presenting thoughtful, engaging and quality productions. To this end we only engage professional talent; diverse in craft, ethnicity and approach. Ensuring our theatre experience not only reflects what is happening present day, but the communities we’re in. Staff are paid fair wages, ensured by our agreements with various unions. However, the shows themselves will still be priced in a way that is accessible. Our focus on restoration and healing will be carried through not only with the subject matter of our productions, but the town halls and after play discussions we plan to host and make available to the community.


2. Talent Wellness Programs: We plan to approach theatre management and production in a much more sustainable, restorative and holistic way. The traditionally low wages of the theatre space leaves many actors, actresses and administration without the care they need to maintain their long and grueling rehearsal schedules. To help fill this gap, we’ll offer theater talent throughout the Houston community wellness services, which will include free to low cost health provider summits and free referral services. These services will be available to all theater talent throughout the community for free or low costs. This program will be facilitated through a space rented for our productions, as well as other generous community centers and practitioners that have already offered to donate their time and services.


3. Education
Education through Caduceus will have many facets. There will be the masterclasses put on for talent, where they’re given opportunities to hone their craft. There will also be classes available for community members interested in learning about, or getting involved in, theater. But the last component is what we’re excited about. In furtherance of our dedication to grow the love and passion for theater we’ll have dedicated professionals go out and work with the community’s’ youth. Spreading their very same excitement and experiences with children of all walk’s and backgrounds. This program will be implemented through schools, our theater productions, community centers and other generous hosts.
