The Caldwell Consistory

The Caldwell Consistory, located in the Central Susquehanna Valley town of Bloomsburg, is one of the grandest landmark buildings in the area. Built in 1906, this Victorian, Modified Colonial Revival style is a central destination for parties, proms, receptions, promotional events, concerts and theater. It is home also home to the Free Masons and the Children’s Dyslexia Learning Center.

The Scottish Rite bodies of Freemasonry were organized in Bloomsburg, PA., May 19, 1865. The historic building, originally known as the Caldwell Consistory Cathedral has been a focal point in Central PA. for the Freemasons for over 100 years.

The building built in 1906, was conceived and designed by Williamsport architect Truman P. Reitmyer, and is owned by the non-profit fraternal organization, Valley of Bloomsburg, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemansonry. The building was named for a prominent Philadelphia Mason, John Caldwell.

Our compassion and commitment to our community manifests itself in many ways. One of which, is our commitment of creating The Learning Center for Children with Dyslexia, located on the first floor of the Caldwell Consistory. For over 10 years, the Scottish Rite Masons, have been national leaders in the effort to help children and their families overcome the obstacles of dyslexia.

Now, our doors are open as an elegant facility that can play host to your events. Whether it is a wedding reception, anniversary party, prom, or events like the Press Enterprise’s Bridal Showcase and our annual Tree Fest, we can facilitate your needs.
