On August 25, 1976 a small group of Tucson parents whose children had died founded Parents Who've Lost Children. Its purposes were to offer comfort and hope to newly bereaved parents and to help the community understand the grief of families following the death of a child.
Through the dedication and hard work of its early members, PWLC gained a presence in Tucson, helping hundreds of newly bereaved parents find their way through their loss and providing education to the public by speaking to groups and through media coverage. In 1987 PWLC became the Tucson Chapter of The Compassionate Friends.
We are grateful to all those who have kept the group going through the years, being here for the bereaved parents, brothers and sisters, and grandparents who have needed this unique organization.
