More about The Cornerstone Inn

Recreating Traditions from Mother’s Table

It’s a reality that our lives today are lived at a faster pace than those in generations before us. At the Cornerstone Inn, we recreate the traditions that made meals at Mother’s table so special. Whether it’s a hot bowl of oatmeal with brown sugar, real butter and milk for breakfast, an oven roasted turkey sandwich with cranberry-sage mayonnaise for lunch, or a pork roast for supper, the Cornerstone treats guests like family.

We believe in the power of the table – a place where families meet after a long day or friends meet to break bread. It’s a time to put away phones, turn off the TV, and quiet those distractions that divide the wholesome conversations and caring questions that unite us.

Come in and experience the comfort of our traditions:

Our meals are made from scratch – from gravies, mashed potatoes, applesauce, cole slaw, pancakes, waffles, sauces, soups, meatloaf, not to mention our hand cut french fries ! … And then there’s our dessert – from Mother’s coconut cream pie as high as the sky! Cheesecake and triple berry topping, cobbler, carrot cake, or a caramel brownie sundae!…just to name a few of our customers’ favorites.

Choose to be seated in the Kitchen or the Dining Room. The Kitchen side of the restaurant recalls casual daily meals served around a kitchen table flanked by white, wooden chairs. The Dining Room side of the restaurant recalls special meals lovingly laid on a dark wood table surrounded by upholstered chairs.

Chose to order your meal served family-style in bowls and platters to be passed around the table – for gatherings of four or more.

Reserve our Dining Room for a made from scratch meal designed for your next special occasion. Let The Cornerstone be the place to create your memories for birthdays, showers, rehearsal dinners, weddings, retirement and Christmas parties, or a romantic supper for two.

Our homey and loving environment will help you teach your children and grandchildren to eat as a family what is served on the table. We suggest a child at your table be asked to serve – to come to our kitchen counter, help lay the table, serve drinks, to clear away plates. Many children today are not taught the role of humility to serve others cheerfully and willingly. You may be surprised how children love the opportunity to play a special role in their

There is no tipping at Mother’s table, but contributions are thankfully accepted to help fulfill the basic needs for our world’s poorest of the poor, as well as national disaster funds. The contributions have gone to World Vision, Mary’s Meals, and Samaritan’s Purse….these missions have website’s if you’d like to check out where we have chosen to send your contributions. The Cornerstone Inn has also adopted children with these funds, through World Vision’s childcare ministries.

Descend our staircase into the Root Cellar – a quiet prayer room with walls of stacked stone. You will find a wooden petition box containing a drawer with paper and pen. Write your confidential prayer requests and place them in the slot on the top of the box. Every day for one hour, one member of our local community spends time in prayer for all the petitions in the box. We believe in prayer. We believe that God listens to and answers our pleas, heals our wounds, sees our heartache, and shares our suffering. He hurts with us – our brokenness, afflictions, addictions and most difficult cases. We are all God’s children, and He forgives us and yearns for us to return to Him with all our heart! He deserves also our thanksgiving and praise, for as one of us suffers, another of us rejoices … seasons turn and change, but God does not. He is faithful, firm, and steadfast and a Rock to which we can cling. So go to your roots and approach your Maker at our humble box of prayers, united with your community of friends, family, and travelers along the way. In one great big voice, God will hear us, turn toward our little community and grant much blessing!

Our baby grand piano is the focal point of many celebrations! Music accompanies the joyful times in our lives and we continue that tradition at The Cornerstone whether it’s by singing a special ‘Happy Birthday’ to a guest, Christmas caroling, or bringing in local vocalists and instrumentalists to make an evening meal or Sunday Brunch even more special. If you are interested in sharing your gifts with the community, please contact us at (740) 984-0011.

Those in need may receive free food, quietly, without questions, by approaching the kitchen door at the rear of the building.

God bless you abundantly … you are loved and cared for here at The Cornerstone!
