The Defiant Goldfish

The Defiant Goldfish is an iconic North Tacoma pub located at the entrance to Point Defiance Park and Zoo. Starting out as a service station in 1929, it opened its doors as the Goldfish Tavern in 1933 at the end of prohibition and operated continuously until it closed its doors in 2012.

Two woefully optimistic dreamers took on the project of resurrecting this historic neighborhood gathering place in the summer of 2014. The obstacle course that the "3 month" project became...including underground gas tanks, a fire, contractors, multiple break-ins and thefts, jacked up sidewalks and the almost daily reality of a negative checking account balance drew the project out for nearly two years. The people of Tacoma, Ruston and friends from all over the world stepped in and helped Adam & Cory save The Defiant Goldfish, which re-opened its doors in July of 2016. These people are called the 325!

The Defiant Goldfish is now open at 11:30 am every morning serving espresso, lunch and dinner to the good people of Tacoma and visitors from all over. They have 9 beers on tap that rotate all of Tacoma's bet breweries. Open for lunch ans dinner every day, they have a varied menu of sandwiches, salads, soon to be bruschetta, and their widely known fantastic hand tossed pizza.
