More about The Dominion Club Weddings

1991 -Construction began in May as part of a $700 million 1260 acre project whereby HHHunt would place The Dominion Club as the epicenter of the West End’s first master planned community, Wyndham. The golf course was designed by Bill Love and Curtis Strange, former Ryder Cup Champion and two time U.S. Open Champion.

1993 -Beginning in 1993, The Dominion Club hosted the Nike Dominion Open which eventually became part of the Nationwide Tour. This tradition remained until 2008 when the tournament was moved out of Henrico County.

1994-1996 Nine tennis courts were installed to further develop the recreational activities being offered.

2001 - The Dominion Club hired the current Director of Tennis and hosted its first Junior Tennis Tournament. Under the leadership of Joe Cappellino, the tennis program has grown immensely, consistently being ranked in the top 5 tennis Clubs in Richmond since 2013.

2007 - Under new leadership by the current General Manager, Sean McLaren, The Dominion Club began its transition from being a golf-centric Club to a family friendly neighborhood Club. This was largely the result of many young families moving into Wyndham and the Nuckols Road corridor who had a desire for more than just golf: family, fitness, dining, tennis, swimming, and social events.

2012 - The Dominion Club began to exponentially grow its catering program, eventually becoming the Wedding Capital of the West End. Since 2013, The Dominion Club has repeatedly won the Brides’ Choice Award from Wedding Wire and was inducted into The Knot Hall of Fame for Best Wedding Venue in Richmond in 2016.

2015 - In January, The Dominion Club was officially purchased by our new parent company, Heritage Golf Group. 2015 brought a long awaited re-birth for The Dominion Club. Heritage Golf Group committed to an immediate infusion of capital of over $2 million, giving the golf course and entire campus a fresh look and new brand. Projects of primary importance were bunker restoration, cart path repair, golf carts, maintenance equipment, and installation of a state of the art irrigation system. The Dominion Club is now equipped with the tools and resources to reach its full potential. With solid financial backing, brand new facilities, experienced leadership, and Member satisfaction at an all-time high, The Dominion Club is poised for a bright future!
