The Eagle Academy for Young Men opened in the fall of 2004 after admitting its first freshman class. From there, Eagle developed into a full 4-year high school and moved to its current state-of-the-art flagship facility constructed in 2009. Starting during the 2011-2012 school year, the school opened its doors for its first 6th grade class. By the 2013-2014 school year, Eagle will have all grades from 6 through 12.
Admission to the Eagle Academy for Young Men is through the standard middle school or high school application processes open to all NYC 5th and 8th graders respectively.
The Eagle Academy for Young Men has expanded beyond its initial Bronx roots, opening additional schools in all five boroughs and in Newark, New Jersey. All schools are supported by the Eagle Academy Foundation, itself a result of the initial investment of a group of educators, parents, community leaders and corporate partners, led by the One Hundred Black Men, Inc.
