Michael D. Elbert, Esq. is the lead attorney at The Elbert Law Firm. His primary practice areas are Criminal Defense, DWI/DUI and Personal Injury Litigation in Nassau County and Suffolk County.
After receiving his Bachelor's degree from the University at Buffalo, Michael attended St. John's University School of Law on an academic scholarship. He began his legal career at the Bronx District Attorney's office where he investigated and prosecuted thousands of criminal cases ranging from minor crimes to homicide.
Since entering private practice in 2001, Michael has distinguished himself throughout the area as a skilled trial attorney. He has won acquittals for clients on a wide array of charges including murder, robbery, burglary, weapons, narcotics, vehicular crimes, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property, harassment and disorderly conduct. Michael's trial success and experience with area prosecutors and judges has given him the knowledge and credibility necessary to get the best possible results for his clients.

Michael has been a guest lecturer for the New York State Bar Association and Iona college. Recently, he co-authored "A Consideration of the Repugnant Verdict for the Criminal Practitioner" (Nassau Lawyer, 2012). Michael is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association and serves on the Board of Directors for the Nassau County Criminal Courts Bar Association.
