THE EMPTY SPACE

The Empty Space's mission is to provide professional quality live theatre to the community of Bakersfield and to create an opportunity for local actors, directors and technicians to work in a creative environment that allows them to express themselves and their artistic ideas while encouraging them to continue to study and improve their craft.

We want to encourage every member of the community to experience and enjoy live theater, regardless of his or her financial situation, so all of our mainstage shows reserve at least 10 seats each performance for pay-what-you-can admission. Advanced reservations can be made online.

If you would like to be notified of upcoming auditions please also become a fan of The Empty Space Actors page, where you will also receive audition tips, information on upcoming acting classes, and ideas on how you can improve your craft.

There is also The Empty Space Artists page if you would like to be notified about upcoming calls to artists for art shows in The Empty Space Gallery. Under the direction of The Empty Space Gallery Director, you can also learn how to present art in a gallery setting and tips on how to market yourself as an artist.
