The Growing Place

The Growing Place teaching philosophy is based on active learning. Teachers facilitate activities in an environment that fosters self-expression, independence and respect for others. Students are stimulated to explore, share ideas and build on and expand their knowledge. Teachers prepare activities that allow students to manipulate the materials and formulate their own conclusions based on their previous knowledge, their new observations and the ideas of both other students and the teacher. The goal is to create a stimulating environment where students are engaged in joyful learning.

Parents are encouraged to take an active role in their child’s learning. Regular communication through newsletters, conferences, and occasional home visits help facilitate that partnership between home and school. Questions and suggestions from parents are always welcome. Together we provide a learning program that helps students develop a love of learning that will enable them to grow to their full potential.
