The Heartwood Cafe

The Heartwood Cafe opened it's doors on Valentine's Day, 2013 and with our hearts on our sleeves, we set fourth on our journey to promote healthy, local, and organic food in Medicine Hat.

We try to source all of our meat products locally and always look for responsibly raised products. Some of our favourite vendors include TLC Farms, Macpherson's Meats, Heritage Farms, and Superstore 'Free From' Brand.

We also get as much local and/or organic produce as possible. We like to create a seasonal menu that varies week to week. We shop weekly at the Medalta Market and receive many of our supplies from Schipper's Farms, Mann's Organics, Broxburn Vegetables, Halma's Vegetables, and Prairie Oasis. Our bread for our sandwiches is fresh baked with simple ingredients from McBride's Bakery.

We like to offer unique flavours and styles of food; We do everything from a traditional greek salad to a coconut curry quinoa salad and our soups range from Thailand to Germany and even Africa, depending on our mood. Our specialty panini press sandwiches are also fun--from Smoked Ham & Apple to Chicken Cheddar and Guacamole or Tomato, Spinach and Hummus, we really love to experiment and try to offer something different to our customers.

We also serve award winning coffee from Phil & Sebastion Roasters. They roast small batches of single origin beans that are ethically and directly sourced. All of our syrups are made in-house with organic cane sugar. We also offer organic almond milk, cashew milk, and organic soy milk for milk alternatives.
