The Highlands School

The Highlands School serves students (Kindergarten through 12th grade) who have the potential for average or above average academic achievement, but are struggling to learn by conventional teaching methods. We teach students who learn differently the skills and strategies needed to become successful, independent learners well-equipped to transition back to a traditional school setting – usually within two to three years.

We are an independent, non-profit, co-educational school conveniently located off of I-95 (Exit 80) in Bel Air, Md. The school offers a full-time school-year program, a 5-week summer program, and tutoring services. We are members of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA),the Learning Disabilities Association (LDA), Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder (CHADD), the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) and the Association of Independent Maryland Schools (AIMS).

The Highlands School is accredited by the Association of Independent Maryland Schools and approved by the Maryland State Department of Education.
