Est. in 1840 by African Americans in the Oldest Section of Downtown Augusta. Only two blocks from the Savannah River, the church is in a prime location and sits as a beacon of light for the Olde Town community in Augusta, Georgia.

~2nd Oldest African American Baptist Church in Augusta, and one of the oldest in the nation.
~Thankful Baptist Church Sanctuary is listed on the National registry for Historic Sites in America. The church was built in 1909, and still holds services in the original structure.
~As of January 2010, the church completed its 9000 sq foot Youth OutReach Center in Down town Augusta.members and raising a new generation of young people for Christ.
