The June Buchanan School

The June Buchanan School (JBS) was founded in 1984 as a model laboratory school for students who desire to excel academically and reside within the general vicinity of Alice Lloyd College. This private, co-educational, college-preparatory school for grades K-12 is unique in that it has a challenging curriculum and shares a college campus.

Students have access to a state-of-the-art college library facility where they can take advantage of reference and resource materials that are readily available, as well as interlibrary loans and the virtual library. Recreational facilities such as an Olympic-sized indoor pool, weight room, bookstore, racquetball court, two gymnasiums, and much more, are at our students' fingertips.

Further, qualifying JBS junior and senior high school students are offered the opportunity to take advantage of our Caney Honors Achievement Program (CHAP). Through CHAP, students can take college-level courses at ALC, and can graduate from high school with one semester (or 12 hours) of college credit at no out-of-pocket expense. The program encourages students to continue their education.

JBS graduates have gone on to work at nationally recognized institutions as architects, doctors, lawyers, professors, dentists, mining and agricultural engineers...the list goes on and on...
