The Knight Academy

The Knight Academy is the private piano studio of Jessica Mavros. Jessica relocated to Missoula, Montana from Atlanta, Georgia in January 2015. Prior to moving to Missoula, Jessica maintained a full-time teaching studio of 50+ students. She holds a BM in piano performance and piano pedagogy from Shorter University (c/o 2003) and a MM in piano performance from The University of Georgia (c/o 2010). While pursuing her master's degree, Jessica was selected as a teaching assistant and choral accompanist. She held both positions for the length of her study.

Jessica began piano lessons at age 8 and was fortunate to study under Mary Ann and Bill Knight, both have received national accolades for their outstanding students and teaching abilities. She won numerous competitions and participated in countless recitals over the past 25 years. She has an extensive background in collaboration: instrumental, vocal and choral. Performing is secondary to Jessica's true love, teaching.

Mrs. Knight gave Jessica the greatest gift, which is a passion for teaching. Most musicians are teachers as a practical way to pursue their art, but Mrs. Knight loved her students. She passed away on the first day of spring in 2016. Her love of music and equal love of teaching will never be forgotten. She was completely devoted to inspiring every student who walked into her life. Jessica's studio is named in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Knight.

Students enrolled with The Knight Academy can expect to become well-rounded musicians. Piano will be their primary instrument, but a solid musical foundation is the goal. Students will learn to play proficiently by reading music and playing by rote. Music theory and music history are also included in activities. Most importantly, students can expect to have FUN! Learning how to play a musical instrument is fun and should bring you pleasure. It should bring you joy.
