The Left Bank

2008: A father, like many Americans, was hit hard during the Great Recession and closed the doors to his family construction supply business after 30 years. A business his father had started and passed down to him. It was tough. A heavy few years of dissapointment, worry and stress.

2008-2010: The little space was rented out in hopes of the father keeping afloat. But the tenants weren't a good match and ended up leaving. The building sits empty and talks of selling it begin.

2012: The father's daughter has a plan. A plan that would keep the building & continue on the family legacy, but in a very different way.

She wanted to become a small business owner like her parents & grandparents. She wanted a space that would be a creative space for her talented friends to use, a place that would give back to the community, a place to find the type of bargain she had always been taught to seek out, a place that would bring a little joy to the block and hope back to her father. Thus, with the support & guidance of her talented, loving and infinitely optimistic mother, she opens the door to the Left Bank.
