The phrase "Small Town Charm Meets Big City Design" on The Lighting Studio's sign tells Susan Erwin's story in a nutshell. After spending over twenty years working in Atlanta with engineers, architects, and interior designers on custom lighting design for major construction projects, Susan and her husband, Mike, have moved to the small town of Thomaston, Georgia and opened a lighting design studio and showroom that combines small town charm with big city design.

In the late 90's, Susan was one of the first to receive the prestigious "Lighting Certified" designation from the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions, and is currently studying to become a Certified Lighting Consultant with the American Lighting Association. While the NCQLP primarily recognizes excellence in the commercial lighting industry, the American Lighting Association is a trade association primarily representing the residential lighting industry. Its membership includes retail showrooms and lighting designers that are dedicated to providing the public with the proper application of quality residential lighting.
