The name 'The Little Bit Shop' was coined by Monte's mother Rusty Falck many years ago. She always wanted to be part of running a little store that would sell thrift, crafts, books and etc. The name was a given-- because it would be a little bit old, a little bit new, a little bit unusual, a little bit rustic, just a little bit of a place. When Tim and I finally took the step to open this shop of course that had to be its name.
Most of our stuff comes from auctions and estate sales. Occasionally we buy from garage sales or bulk lots of new items when we can get them reasonably priced enough to mark them within our normal store range. We do get a few donations, but we aren't a 'not for profit' so although we do accept donations, we can't give the tax credit slip that people like to get.
It's about matching up an item to the person out there that can use up the life left in it, rather than throwing that item out when it is still serviceable, or readable, or pretty.
It's about offering reasonably priced clothes, housewares, and memories.
It's also about offering a market spot where crafters can show and sell their items.
Unfortunately, it's also about growing the store just enough to pay its own bills and maybe some of ours.
