Built in 1856 as the First Baptist Church of Cartersville, the building was destroyed during the civil war by the union troops and finished off by a tornado. Rebuilt in the 1870's as a school for girls, Lottie Moon taught girls here before her mission work took her to China. Over the years, it has become apartment buildings and even a bed and breakfast. Today it sits in the heart of historic downtown Cartersville across from the Roselawn Museum, Sam P. Jones' house.
