More about The Lydia Project - Cambodia

Because of the generous support of everyday men, women and children, The Lydia Project is rescuing orphans, caring for widows and supporting university students in the forgotten villages of Cambodia. We have no national support, no funding safety net, no major donor—simply people like you who send in checks that go directly to the children and people we serve. Every dollar, every dime goes to them…not a penny is used for administration, mailing or travel. As a result, even a small gift has a huge impact. The Lydia Project is a 501(c) non-profit organization meaning all donations are tax-deductible. Please read below about how your funds are changing lives forever.

Cambodia has a very broken past. In the late 1970's a man named Pol Pot became the communist leader of Cambodia and inflicted a mass genocide on his people in an effort to enforce true and full communist rule. He instituted what became known as "the killing fields" where men, women, and children were killed and buried in mass graves. Everyone was forced to farm in agricultural communes and if people weren't killed directly, they were killed by being overworked and under fed.

Families were destroyed and rebuilt by force. Pol Pot and his men would force young girls to marry his soldiers and would arrange the majority of marriages. Thus, there was a whole generation of Cambodians married and born from brokenness.
This page, is to help in the effort to support a group of amazing people through the Lydia Project who are successfully working to bring LIFE and REDEMPTION and WHOLENESS to this country that is so desperate for it, in Jesus' name.
The leaders precious couples who were just living their lives and, in 2007, the opportunity to support an orphanage fell into their laps. Since then, the ministry has grown from 1 orphanage to 2 orphanages, 30 church plants, 35 widows being supported, 20 university students that are housed and supported by the ministry, 19 graduates, and 200 new believers, just in the past year!! God has placed so much favor on them as they are seeing this generation of Cambodians live loved and with hope for their future! A generation of Cambodians who are graduating and going to work for ministries like Samaritans Purse and helping to bring wholeness to their country.

This ministry is mainly supported by only 40 faithful families and they could use some help! It takes $3000 per month to support 34 children in their orphanage, although they now have almost 40! Also, it's back-to-school time at a cost of about $50/child.

Please prayerfully consider supporting this amazing ministry!
