More about The Maker Spot

This project is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. (2015)

The Maker Spot was an idea that originated during the development of a partnership between the Tarrant Makers and the North Richland Hills Library. After paring down our ideas (yes, we did have an idea for a makerspace in the back of a semi truck!) we came up with The Maker Spot.

The Maker Spot is a community makerspace that is safe and free for makers of all ages inside of the North Richland Hills Library that endeavors to provide access to the latest technology and training to encourage entrepreneurship and self-education within our community.

The Maker Spot is a regional makerspace that will serve as a training hub and technology lending center for the North Texas Library Consortium (NTLC), which is comprised of thirteen small and rural libraries that share resources among their communities, including the North Richland Hills Library.

The Maker Spot opened on August 3, 2015 with a grand opening ceremony that was attended by city officials, library staff, community members, volunteers and representatives from Senator Kelly Hancock’s office.
