The Mary Wade Home

Opened in 1866 and known as the Home for the Friendless to serve women and children at the end of the Civil War, the nonprofit organization has been located from it inception on 118 Clinton Avenue, New Haven. Following a gift from Lucy Boardman in honor of her sister, Mary Wade, a new building was constructed in the 1890"s and the organization changed its name to Mary Wade Home. In the early 1900's Mary Wade Home served senior ladies and in 1982, accepted senior men. Today Mary Wade Home provides a continuum of services including home and community-based services to those living in the greater community.
