Contemplative practices are an experiential mode of learning and self-inquiry to enhance client well-being. Contemplative practices generally develop greater capacity for concentration and quieting the mind in the midst of the many distractions of our everyday lives. Contemplative practices can increase empathy, compassion, communication skills, improved focus and attention as well as reducing stress, anxiety and worry.
Contemplative practices are broad and vary widely, have been influenced by numerous faiths and traditions around the world, but are most well-known today in the form of mindfulness and various forms of meditation.
Please refer to The Tree of Contemplative Practices at this link to see the many forms currently in use today.
