In 1924, The Out-of-Door Academy's founders, Fanneal Harrison and Catherine Gavin, sought to establish a uniquely progressive school committed to high academic standards and to nourishing the minds, bodies and spirits of children. Eighty-five years later, Out-of-Door remains inspired by their vision.
From Pre-K through 12th grade, we are passionate about educating the whole child through a rigorous balance of academics, athletics, arts and character development. Out-of-Door values a strong partnership with our parent community, and together we prepare our students to meet life's challenges with knowledge, integrity, courage and poise so that they in turn can make a difference in the world.
