The Philly Cheesesteak was born in the early 1930's. Pat Olivieri was a hot dog vendor in South Philly when out of the blue he decided to put some beef he had bought from the butcher on his grill. A local cab driver noticed the alluring aroma and asked Pat for his own steak sandwich. Well the rest was history, rumor of the steak sandwich spread and cabbies around the city were flocking to his stand. Soon after, Pat opened up shop on 9th street and Passyunk Ave. Today, Pats King of Steaks is grilling 24 hours a day. Here at The Philly Hut we have 20 years of Cheesesteak experience.
